SUMMARY:ILST Training 2026
DESCRIPTION:Introduction To Leadership Skills for Troops \nTraining Scouts to be leaders is an ongoing process that begins immediately when a Scout\naccepts a leadership position in his troop. Leadership experiences can be frustrating and\ndisappointing for a Scout who is not given the knowledge\, skills\, and encouragement that he must\nhave to fulfill his leadership assignment. It is the Scoutmaster’s responsibility to make sure the\nScout has all the necessary tools and to coach and mentor the Scout to be successful. \nThe purpose of the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) course is to teach Scouts\nwith leadership positions about their new roles and the organizational and leadership skills needed\nto most effectively reach success in that role. Completion of ILST is a prerequisite for Scouts\nto participate in the more advanced leadership courses National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)\nand the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE). It is also required to participate\nin a Kodiak Challenge Trek. \nWhen – March 14\, 2026 8:30am – 5:00pm \nWhere – Shirley Rod and Gun Club \n**Pizza and drinks will be provided for lunch \nRegistration Open Date – 12/1/2025 – Registration Close Date 2/25/2026 \nLimited amount of tickets available \nCost: $10 \n

SUMMARY:IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills)
DESCRIPTION:When: 4/25/2026 – 4/26/2026 \nWhere: Treasure Valley Scout Reservation \nCost: $35 \nThis hands-on program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out- of-doors. In\naddition\, the teaching methods\, activities\, and games model the variety of teaching used in effective and engaging Scouting programs. \nHands-on participation is the best learning tool\, and this course models the techniques used by effective Scoutmasters\, advisors\, and other leaders in the Scouting program. Attendees will see and\nexperience different aspects of how Scouting works while playing the role of Scouts in a troop. \nParticipants should leave the training experience with a full understanding of how the patrol method operates\, a feeling of comfort in working with and instructing their Scouts\, and an increased level\nof confidence taking Scouts outdoors safely. With that comes great satisfaction. \nMust be present for the entire event to complete training. \nParticipants will be responsible for their own personal gear including tent. \nMeals will be provided \nPlease contact Ed King if you have any specific questions about the program – ed.king@hnescouting.org \nUpdated 12/18/2025

SUMMARY:Catamount Lodge Spring Induction Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Current Members\nWith Spring here\, it is time once again to get together in the spirit of cheerful service and fellowship while we welcome new members to the lodge. If you plan to attend and have not yet paid your 2026 dues for the year\, please choose the current member ticket option for $50. \nOrdeal Candidates\nCongratulations! You have been elected as a candidate for membership into the Order of the Arrow!\nIn most organizations\, those who are already a part of the group select new members. However\, in the OA\, your peers\, many of whom are not OA members\, selected you. They saw a quality inside of you that you might not be aware of\, and they have faith in you and how you live the Scout Oath and Law. \nAbout Ordeal Weekends\nThis is just the first step in a journey that will last a lifetime. Your next step is to attend what is called an Ordeal\, the induction experience for the Order of the Arrow. At the Ordeal weekend\, you will have a chance to prove your courage and self-reliance; listen to your inner thoughts; serve your fellow human cheerfully; and prove your ability to live the Scout Oath and Law. \nYou will have a number of chances to complete your Ordeal. The lodge holds Induction Weekends in the spring and fall of each year. You must attend one of these weekends within 18 months of being notified of your election. Otherwise\, you will need to be re-elected\, or need to get an extension. Ask your Lodge Adviser for additional details. \nFor more information about the Order of the Arrow\, the Ordeal experience\, what to bring\, and more\, please read our Information Flyer. \nUpdated 3/28/2026

SUMMARY:Walker Memorial Service 2026
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, on the Saturday after Memorial Day\, we gather for our Annual Scout/Scouter Memorial Service. This service honors the memory of Ronald E. Walker and recognizes all recently departed members of our Scouting community.\nIt’s a time to remember the Scouts and volunteers we’ve lost in the past year. The presence of a full unit sends a powerful message of community and respect. \nPlease remember to email John Ebersold (jebs27@aol.com) or Joe Klimavich (joe.klimavich@gmail.com) with the names and a brief profile of any members from your unit who have passed away since last year’s Memorial Service. \nThank you for helping us make this service meaningful for everyone\, especially the families who’ve lost loved ones.
