SUMMARY:BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) Training Fall 2025
DESCRIPTION:BALOO training is adult Cub Scout leader training for leading pack camping trips. All Cub Scout packs must have at least one BALOO trained leader on any pack camping trip. Having two trained leaders gives you backup coverage in case of unexpected illness or schedule changes. Sign up for BALOO training with a friend and let us help you get your pack ready for camping season. \nTrained leaders are critical to the success of Scouting. Every young person involved in the Scouting program needs and deserves a leader who understands the aims of the program and knows how to deliver it with enthusiasm and fun. Trained leaders are more effective at delivering the promise of Scouting because they understand their role\, responsibilities\, and the resources available to them. \nThis is a hands-on informative training weekend that will give you insight to the skills you need to take your Cub Scouts on outdoor events. Participants will be camping at Fort Courage. \nMust be present for the entire event to complete training.\nParticipants will be responsible for their own personal gear including tent.\nMeals will be provided \nThe online portion of this training at my.scouting.org must be completed before your arrival. This training requires an overnight stay in a tent you set up. Your participation in all in-person lessons is required to receive credit as trained. \nWhy should Cub leaders be BALOO trained? \n\nAt least one BALOO trained leader is required on all Cub Scout camping trips.\nBALOO training ensures your camping outings are covered under BSA insurance.\nBALOO trained Webelos den leaders can take their den camping on its own without the pack!\nTraining gives you resources for creating a fun camping program and saving money\n\nLast updated 1/16/2025 \n
