Space may be limited for this program. We may not be able to accommodate all youth; priority will be given to those who register early.  

We want every child to have the opportunity to join Scouting! If the $25 registration hinders a student from participating, financial assistance is available. Please contact exploringaviation@hnescouting.org for details.

WHY:

• Aviation Career Exploring combines exciting hands-on activities with interactions with aviation professionals representing a wide range of careers.  Middle school youth will experience firsthand what it’s like to be a pilot, aircraft mechanic, avionics technician, flight engineer, or air traffic controller.
• Participants will learn about career pathways in aviation and the educational and training requirements, while networking with professionals working in the aviation field.
• Partnership between Scouting America, Worcester Public Schools, Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, Massachusetts Port Authority/Worcester Regional Airport and additional aviation stakeholders represents one of the first middle school-focused curriculum of its kind in the country.
• Together we are opening new doors and opportunities for these students. We are expanding their awareness of aerospace industries, sciences, careers and technologies while enhancing their personal development. It’s an exciting hands-on learning opportunity that helps prepare these students for success in life.
• Exploring focuses on career exploration, leadership development, and personal growth through hands-on experiences and mentorship from professionals in various fields.
• Youth will learn about the various educational requirements for different career paths in aviation, have the chance to connect with aviation companies in central Massachusetts, and will receive useful advice on steps they can take to prepare themselves for a successful career in aviation.

We’re grateful to our partners like Atlantic Aviation, Massport, JetBlue, Delta, American, Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Worcester Public Schools, because what’s happening here exemplifies the power in these partnerships and how together, we are creating the programming opportunities that will give Worcester students the chance to learn about the many educational and career aviation pathways available to them right here at home.
