Calvin Moore, a longtime council board member, proud Scouting supporter, and community leader, passed away on June 7, 2024. He is survived by his three children—C.J., Todd, and Chelsie—and seven grandchildren.
From an early age, Calvin was involved in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Scout in Troop 3 Ayer and spent many summers at Camp Wanocksett as a camper. In his adult life, he and his father helped fund and build various camp structures. He was the fifth generation to run the family business, leading its expansion to multiple locations. He served on the Nashua Valley Council Executive Board, and continued on the board after a merger which formed the Heart of New England Council.
Calvin never passed up the opportunity for adventure and had a passion for many outdoor pursuits including hunting and fishing. He was a Life member of Safari Club International and served as president of the New England chapter. In honor of his commitment to Scouting and to shooting sports, Heart of New England Council is proud to rename its annual Sporting Clays Classic in Calvin’s memory.
